**The Role**
We're looking for an experienced learning and development manager to join the Sexual Misconduct and Response Office (SeMPRO) — a small but high-impact team working to reduce and prevent sexual misconduct in Defence. You will lead the development and implementation of innovative and effective learning solutions for Defence in relation to Sexual Misconduct prevention and response. This will include developing proposed strategies and the design, development and continuous improvement of comprehensive learning solutions for the organisation.
You will also play a leadership role across the broader program, contributing to planning, decision-making and coordination of work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert advice on learning solutions and how to evaluate them.
- Leading the design, development, and ongoing improvement of learning programs.
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships across Defence and with external stakeholders.
- Managing complex projects and supporting work linked to the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.
- Reviewing the quality of SeMPRO-developed learning materials.
- Designing and delivering learning programs in different formats — online, face-to-face, or blended.
- Contributing to team planning and helping set priorities.
- Coaching and developing other learning professionals in the team, while promoting a culture of safety, innovation and accountability.
**About our Team**
The Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Office (SeMPRO) is a dedicated team within Defence that works to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct. Established in 2013, SeMPRO is central to Defence’s efforts to create a safer and more respectful workplace culture. We encourage reporting, help-seeking and prevention of sexual misconduct. Our main goal is to support people affected by sexual misconduct and to help prevent it from happening in Defence workplaces. We take a person-centred, trauma-informed approach to all our work.
Our focus areas include:
- Supporting individuals impacted by sexual misconduct.
- Delivering education and training to help prevent and respond to sexual misconduct.
- Providing expert advice to inform Defence policy and creating accessible resources for affected individuals, their supporters, and managers.

You are someone who:
- Has experience in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of learning and development programs.
- Has a demonstrated understanding of adult learning theory and practice, including experience developing blended learning solutions.
- Has experience in facilitating learning solutions (training programs and/or modules) in both face-to-face and virtually (via webinar) environments.
- Thrives in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.
- Communicates clearly and builds strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Has leadership experience and can support and guide others.
- Has well developed analytical, research and decision-making skills to support completion of activities and to deliver defined outcomes.
