Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHCADS).
The level of final salary is assessed based on qualifications and
relevant experience.
**Objective**:To assist with the implementation of the Social Support Group &
Centre Based Respite Program

**Summary of the Position**
Assisting the Social Support Group & Centre Based Respite Coordinator to implement and promote the Program while
assisting in the preparation and delivery of the SSG program/activities.
**Management and Accountability**
Direct accountability is to the Manager
- AMCS Management has a right to review this.

**Key Responsibilities**
Under the general direction of the SSGR Coordinator the SSGR Assistant is expected to:
- Ensure that the program maximizes clients’ independence
- Suitable preparation of the environment and activities to cater for individual needs;
- Supervision and facilitation of client activities
- Constant use of positive guidance techniques throughout the program, e.g. acknowledging attempts at
- independent behaviour, positive feedback, increasing levels of responsibility for tasks and decisions, etc.
- Facilitate, stimulate and/or extend client interaction with and involvement in, various group activities;
- Involve clients in the decision making and planning of activities
**AUSTRALIAN MULTICULTURAL COMMUNITY SERVICES**
- Including familiar and useful activities that promote Active Service Model (ASM) approach
- Include familiar and useful activities, which relate to an individual's lifestyle/interests within the program, e.g.
- cooking experiences, cleaning, shopping, gardening, reminiscing etc.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of the SSGR program/activities
- Assist with routine daily tasks, e.g. meals, client transportation, toilet etc.
- General cleaning and 'housekeeping' in the areas used by the program Assist and supervise the loading and
- unloading of equipment.
- Drive vehicles and equipment to respective venues. Maintain program equipment, report damages and program
- needs, etc.
- Assist in identification and assessment of the needs of individuals and groups; Actively participate within group
- activities, when necessary;
- Assess clients' ongoing needs in relation to the program and implementation of appropriate changes or
- adaptations;
- Participate in development of any additional program aids
- Participate in Team meetings;
- Promote support and integration as an aspect of the services non
- centre-based activities.
- Support and promote self-advocacy by clients;
- Advocate for clients and carers where necessary;
- Implement the non-centre-based program, as outlined in that program’s objective;
- Provide creative and flexible approach to problem solving in relation to support and integration activities;
- Act 'in-charge' of the program in the absence of the Coordinator.
- Coordinate and direct staff and volunteers in the day-to-day management of the program;
- Ensure that individual clients needs are met;
- Attend to any necessary administrative duties;
Replace the SSGR Assistants/Coordinators to cover some work while they are on leave.
Other duties within the general aims of the position and the agency or as delegated by the SSGR Coordinator.
**Professional Development**:
- Participate in staff development opportunities as planned and required. - Attend meetings and In-Service training when appropriate.
**Occupational Health & Safety**
- Comply with policies & procedures, identify OHS concerns and
communicate these to AMCS management.
- Report hazards and incidents.
**Legislative Requirements**
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislative requirements
such as Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), the Aged Care Act
including the Aged Care Quality Standards, and the Commonwealth
Privacy Act.
