Who we’re looking for
Reporting to the Director Strategic Resource Development, the newly created position of Specialist Strategic Mine Planning sits within Newmont’s Resource Evaluation and Mine Planning function.
The primary purpose for this position will be to leverage extensive operational experience and industry leading mine planning expertise to deliver optimal resource development strategies for Newmont’s global mine operations as part of a team of multi-disciplinary experts in collaboration with Operational and Life-of-Mine Planning site based teams.
To be considered for the role, you will bring a depth of technical engineering expertise developed in life-of-mine/long-term mine planning in large scale, open pit and underground precious metals and/or critical minerals global mine operations.
**You will also ideally bring**:

- A tertiary degree in Mining Engineering, Geoscience and/or a relate field
- Knowledge of long term mine planning, mine design, mine scheduling, mine operations, major projects, mine strategy and mine optimisation
- Underground and open pit mine planning experience in large scale precious metals and/or critical minerals mine operations
- Interest in continuous learning about new and emerging technologies that may benefit Newmont’s global operations
- Competent commercial skills including budgets, forecasting, planning, analysis and reporting
- Solid collaboration capability across multi-disciplinary global and site based teams.

Ideally applicants will live in Perth, Melbourne or Brisbane and have full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia. The role will be offered on a work from home/hybrid basis out of Newmont’s capital city office hub.
