As the Engineering Manager, you'll have the opportunity to actively engage in client onboarding and technical discussions, making a meaningful impact on our projects. Although this role won't involve day-to-day coding, we value your strong technical expertise, which will enable you to support and guide our Senior developers and their teams in overcoming technical challenges and making software design and technology decisions.

Success in this role means fostering a cohesive and motivated group of software engineers who take pride in producing exceptional software that sets a new industry standard.

In addition to leading multiple Technical teams, you'll also serve as a technical leader within our broader engineering/technology team. Your contributions to all facets of engineering and your ability to provide leadership regardless of organisational reporting lines will be highly valued.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS**:

- Own end-to-end app development within Flutter or React, leveraging AWS. Create scalable, maintainable, high-quality apps meeting business needs. Drive innovation and best practices.
- Client Onboarding: Be the primary point of contact for new clients. Analyse requirements, provide tech recommendations and collaborate with sales and account management teams for seamless transitions.
- Architectural Guidance: Advise on development best practices, collaborate with the team on standards, and evaluate emerging technologies' impact on our solutions.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with QA engineers, provide input to quality standards, code reviews, and implement testing strategies for robust, reliable, and bug-free software.
- Documentation and Training: Develop and maintain technical docs, system diagrams, and coding standards. Conduct training to enhance the front-end team's skills and capabilities.

**ABOUT YOU**: You will thrive in our evolving culture if you are curious and enjoy experimenting and innovating and have the following experience and capabilities:

- 5+ years experience in Backend, Frontend, or Fullstack Development.
- 2+ years experience having software engineering direct reports (managing and leading.)
- Experience working within Agile/DevOps development environments.
- Good grasp of modern, cloud-based architectures, RESTful APIs, Graphql event-driven services, serverless, and CI/CD.
- In-depth technical experience in at least one of the core languages, frameworks, or technologies
- Flutter, React, Cloud services microservice architectures, frontend & backend.
- An understanding of, along with experience using, fundamental software engineering (including automated testing, observability and security) principles and practises.
- Strong organisational and communication skills with experience in startups developing & instilling a collaborative engineering culture.
- A Computer Science or Software Engineering degree and any relevant AWS Solutions Architect certification(s) or similar may be an advantage.
