**The Role**

Black Star Pastry is thriving and we're looking for a full-time Kitchen Preparation Assistant to join the team in our St Kilda Production Kitchen at Melbourne’s iconic Prince of Wales precinct.

Your main responsibilities will include the preparation and cutting of fruit and other garnishes that are a key ingredient in the crafting of our acclaimed cakes.

The nature of the work is quite repetitive and would suit someone comfortable with this and able to maintain quality and attention to detail.

We offer reliable day time hours, stable employment and the rare opportunity to achieve work/life balance in a hospitality role.

This a full-time opportunity with flexibility on days but ideally we would like someone with availability on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

**About You**
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment.
- Able to build effective and constructive relationships - a true team player
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally and concisely.
- Exceptional organisational skills.
- Good judgement and confident to make informed decisions.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible to changing business demands.

**Our Business**

Black Star Pastry opened its first boutique patisserie in Newtown in 2008 and since then we have grown into an institution with four stores across Sydney and two in Melbourne.

We are most famous for our Strawberry Watermelon Cake which has become a social media sensation, with the New York Times declaring it “the world’s most instagrammed cake.”
