The Opportunity
Reporting to QBE’s Managing Director for our Business Insurance division, the newly created General Manager, Agency & Specialty brings together the leadership of our Agency and Specialty portfolios. In this role you will have a mandate to drive profitable growth, operational excellence, and market influence across diverse segments including Aviation, Construction, and Builders Warranty.
As a senior leader in this major insurance business, you will shape and execute integrated strategies that deliver commercial outcomes, strengthen intermediary relationships, and elevate QBE’s presence in the specialty insurance market.
Your New Role
You will be responsible for translating strategy into operational plans, managing budgets and forecasts, and driving financial performance. You’ll also act as a key representative for QBE in partner negotiations, ensuring win-win outcomes and long-term value creation.
Key accountabilities include:
- Develop and lead strategic plans and operating models across Agency and Specialty portfolios.- Drive strong financial performance, ensuring achievement of revenue and expense targets.- Oversee governance, compliance, and risk management across business units.- Build and maintain relationships with major intermediaries and external partners.- Identify and implement improvements in core business processes, systems, and reporting.- Lead and inspire teams to deliver high-impact results and foster a high-performance culture.- Champion growth opportunities within Agency channels and specialty lines.- Represent QBE in high-level negotiations and act as an escalation point for complex matters.
About You
This is an opportunity for a seasoned insurance industry leader with a track record in commercial excellence and effective people leadership. You bring a strategic mindset, operational depth, and the ability to influence across complex stakeholder environments.
Other ideal attributes:
- Extensive experience in commercial insurance.- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and manage change effectively.- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering financial results.- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships.- Tertiary qualifications in business, insurance, or a related field; formal management training highly regarded.- Passionate and inspiring people leader with a focus on engagement and development.
