About the role
- To assign timely and accurate morbidity and procedural classifications to episodes of care to meet the data reporting requirements of Queensland Health.
- Participate in Health Information Services related quality activities and participate in the coder-clinician liaison program in order to improve the quality and timeliness of inpatient morbidity data and Activity Based Funding (ABF).

- Demonstrated ability in the classification of diseases and operations using ICD-10-AM / ACHI / ACS 12th Edition, across a range of clinical speciality areas
- Ability to initiate, conduct and/or participate in quality improvement activities and audits in relation to coded data and coding processes
- Demonstrated problem solving and organisational skills and high-level oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to enable effective interaction and liaison with staff at all levels
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team without direct supervision, to meet coding and departmental deadlines, including meeting own throughput coding targets
- Demonstrated ability to identify, raise and respond to clinical coding and documentation queries
- Demonstrated ability to utilise, or quickly acquire the skills to utilise relevant software and electronic clinical information systems including HBCIS, 3M Codefinder, Cerner (ieMR), The Viewer, Microsoft Outlook, iQ Coding Advisor, CIMHA, myHR, word processing, spreadsheets and other relevant programs as required
