About the Role
Reporting into the Procurement Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring the timely specification, procurement, delivery, and dissemination of materials for our Sustainable Business Energy Solutions business (SBES). Working with external supplier and internal stakeholders to ensure we procure the correct equipment in an efficient and cost-effective manner as well as supporting effective operation of Supply Chain and Warehousing facilities.
As the Category Specialist you will work with key stakeholders, you will build an understanding of the SBES Strategies, objectives, and execution of procurement strategies. You will drive best in class procurement approaches to sourcing across all categories managed, focusing on delivering value for money from supplier agreements as well as risk management and compliance with procurement procedures and professional best practice.
Your strong interpersonal, communication, influencing and negotiation skills will allow you to engage with internal stakeholders and external suppliers ensuring outcomes in line with SBES goals.
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage purchasing and stock management- Undertake purchasing, warehousing/inventory and logistics projects to bring significant business enhancements- Provide over-sight of tactical purchasing functions including reviewing purchase order process- Identify and suggest system and process improvements that exist within the purchasing, warehousing/inventory, and logistics functions- Support the implementation of strategic change management practices for purchasing, warehousing / inventory and logistics functions- Analyse and review purchasing, stock management and logistics problems and proactively recommending new solutions- Continually improve operation-wide processes to optimise inventory at reduced cost while meeting customer expectations of approved materials and on-time delivery- Analyse data, monitoring supplier performance (cost, delivery, and quality), monitoring warehouse processes and procedures and generate recommendations- In collaboration with the Procurement Manager conduct periodic supplier reviews and implement supplier continuous improvement programs ensuring they yield measurable results that benefit product safety, compliance, and cost reductions- Develop and implement improved purchasing, warehousing/inventory and logistics management features within the ERP and planning systems.- Identify Supply Chain alternatives to resolve obsolescence issues

What you’ll bring to the table:
- Demonstrable experience in a Category Specialist role with proven ability to make an impact and influence within your category- Excellent supplier negotiations skills- Advanced organisation skills and ability to prioritise workload within a fast-moving environment- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy- High level problem-solving capabilities- Strong written and oral communications skills- Intermediate computer skills i.e. data entry & software navigation
