**The Opportunity**

We have an opportunity for a Team Leader, Compliance and Investigation to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The Team Leader, Compliance and Investigation contributes to the goals and objectives of the Fruit Fly Emergency Response Program by providing support to the Manager, Compliance and Investigation in running investigations and supporting the Operations team in undertaking their duties under the _Plant Health Act 2009_. This includes close interaction with the Response’s Market Access and Operations teams which are currently located in the SA Riverland.

The Biosecurity Strategy for South Australia compliments the National Biosecurity System and forms the framework of high-level directions for State policy and Biosecurity activities, procedures and legislation which serves to minimise the risks and impacts of incursions, promote early detection and assist in management and eradication of pests and diseases that could damage production systems and biodiversity. Biosecurity surveillance and investigation is vital to ensure compliance with our various legislative requirements. Working within this context, the Team Leader contributes significantly to the achievement of PIRSA's compliance objectives through the conduct of complex and sensitive investigations into legislative breaches within the Fruit Fly Emergency Response Program.

**Special Conditions**
- Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
- Opportunity up to December 2025.
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

**Requirements**:

- Possession of a current driver’s license and willingness to drive.
- Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
- You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations.
- The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

**Qualifications**
- **Essential**: Nil.
- **Desirable**:

- Relevant experience in a compliance or regulatory role.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive equivalent experience, associate with plant security.
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent, or State/Federal detective training qualification.

**Remuneration**

OPS5 - $82,090 min - $87,758 max per annum, plus superannuation
