- **About the Role**:_

We’re seeking a skilled Marine Mechanical Fitter with expertise in engine-room fitout, engine installation, and hydraulic systems to join our hovercraft production team. The role involves fitting, commissioning, and maintaining mechanical systems including propulsion and hydraulics on hovercraft. You will play a key role in ensuring the functionality, reliability, and safety of these unique vessels. You’ll help improve build processes and continuous improvement initiatives. Quality documentation and traceability expected.
- **Responsibilities**:_
- Install and align hovercraft engines, including fitting propulsion and powertrain systems.
- Set up, commission, and maintain hydraulic systems, such as steering and control mechanisms.
- Assemble, fit, and test mechanical components to technical specifications and tolerances.
- Conduct performance tests, diagnose faults, and resolve mechanical and hydraulic issues.
- Work from technical drawings, schematics, and installation manuals with high accuracy.
- Collaborate with engineers and production team members to meet build deadlines and quality standards.
- Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on engines and hydraulic systems as required.
- Ensure all work complies with safety protocols, QA procedures, and marine regulations.
- **Requirements**:_
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in the marine or heavy-industry sector, focused on engine installations and hydraulic systems.
- Hands-on experience with marine propulsion systems, precision alignment, and hydraulic integration.
- Welding skills (MIG and TIG) advantageous.
- Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail in mech/hydraulic troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of marine safety standards and best practice.
- Capable of working independently and within a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
- Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience on marine craft, hovercraft, or automotive/performance vehicles.
- Familiarity with electrical systems, pumps, and control systems an advantage.
- Certifications in mechanical fitting, marine engineering, or hydraulics desirable.
- Proficiency in TIG and MIG welding.

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 - 50 per week
