We are seeking an experienced National Fleet, MHE & Asset Manager to join the Corporate Logistics Team. This role is responsible for leading the strategic management of the Metcash Fleet and equipment portfolios. This includes Material Handling Equipment, Motor vehicles and Assets (Pick to voice Equipment) delivering the strategic direction nationally, setting site MHE, Vehicle and Asset budgets, the procurement and tendering process, ongoing management and performance of major contracts whilst acting as an interface between our business partners and our distribution centres.

The role will create, develop and implement improvements throughout the MHE, Fleet and Asset life cycle nationally including business systems, processes and procedures to enhance operational performance whilst achieving annual budget objectives. The key accountability is execution and deployment of equipment portfolios using data analytics and measurement tools and creating continuous improvement action plans by using the reporting available.

What you’ll do
- Overall leadership responsibilities of the Fleet team
- Management to deliver expected outcomes, as planned, on time, on budget or as planned
- Develop, implement and maintain best practice in all processes to ensure effective and efficient provision of our business requirements
- Management of ongoing contractual costs associated across Fleet and MHE.
- Drive relationships collaboratively with business partners to proactively manage out of contract costs associated with all Equipment portfolios
- Develop and distribute high level reporting that identifies continuous improvement opportunities to make improvements and reduce cost
- Collaborate with the Procurement team to co-ordinate the RFP process for new equipment
- Management of expiries on existing contracts.
- Monthly financial component. Reconciliation of data and facilitate payment of contracts
- Responsible for managing all vehicles within the fleet, passenger and heavy including procurement the vehicle ordering
- Management of lease end expiries on existing contracts.
- Promote and manage engagement with various partners both internal and external and across the business.
- Identify opportunity for improvement in safety across all portfolios
- Implement and maintain best practice models across all portfolios
- Coordinate and auditing aspects of all portfolios to ensure best practice maintenance and safety regulations are being adhered to.

What you’ll bring
- Minimum 5 years working in commercial fleet or relevant experience
- Strong people leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and lead employees in various environments
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to influence and negotiate with all levels both internal and external to the organization
- Knowledge of basic OHS practices associated with Motor vehicles and Material handling equipment
- Experience inspiring, coaching, mentoring and leading direct and indirect teams to achieve outcomes, guides teams in dealing effectively with change barriers and project constraints
- Demonstrated knowledge of MHE includes equipment type, commercials, and capabilities
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, ensuring that obstacles are identified and resolved in a satisfactory and timely manner, risk is minimized
- Strong technical skills with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and MS teams.
