**Postdoc Research Fellow - Generation Vape (3 days a week, 12-month Contract; Academic level A or entry level B)**

Cancer Council NSW and The University of Sydney have formed a Joint Venture, The Daffodil Centre. Cancer Council NSW is Australia's largest cancer research organisation with established links to policymakers and internationally recognised researchers. **About the role**
This is an exciting 12-month, 3 days a week contract role to contribute to the Generation Vape Research project, which aims to examine the awareness, perceptions, attitudes, related knowledge and behaviours of e-cigarette use among teachers, parents and young people aged 14-17 and among young adults aged 18-24 in Australia. This will involve working with a research committee of internal and external partners and suppliers using qualitative and quantitative research methods.
The key responsibilities of the role will be to:
- Work in a practical role in the research team assisting in the day-to-day management and conduct of the project under the supervision of academic staff within CCNSW, the Daffodil Centre, and the University of Sydney
- Liaise with other members of the research team regarding project design and methodology
- Assist in the supervision and mentoring of postgraduate students to ensure that project deadlines are met in a timely manner, where appropriate
- Contribute to the preparation of high quality scientific reports and papers for peer-reviewed publication in collaboration with other members of the research team
- Produce high quality oral presentations and present at conferences and stakeholder meetings as appropriate.
- Contribute to the preparation of associated tenders or grants for external funding.
- Work towards increased academic standing, through appointments to external bodies and wider contribution to the field.
- Active and effective participation in project meetings, conferences and seminars.
- Establish and maintain sound relationships with other investigators and relevant key stakeholders.
- Assist in the production of high quality, timely and accurate research outputs, utilising both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
- Regular liaison with supervisor to ensure research objectives are met in a timely fashion and project deadlines are adhered to at all times
**About You**
- PhD or equivalent in public health, psychology, behavioural sciences, or a related area, with a substantial component of qualitative data analysis
- Experience in qualitative research methods, particularly in the area of thematic analysis
- Excellent written communication and report writing skills, and willingness to draft publications for peer reviewed journals
- Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills
- Experience working with multidisciplinary research teams
- Ability to independently solve problems
- High level interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including conference presentations
- Demonstrated interest in health research
- Willingness and capacity to implement required WHS policies and safe work practice
- Ability to implement equal opportunity and diversity policies and programs
**Desirable**:
- Content knowledge in modifiable risk factors for cancer
- Knowledge of national and international primary prevention public health policies
- Experience in managing projects
- High level verbal communication skills
- Proven publication record in peer-reviewed journals and/or report writing for key stakeholders, such as government departments
- Demonstrated ability in providing leadership in research and protocol development
