**Position overview**

The ANU College of Science (CoS) comprises: the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Research School of Biology, the Research School of Chemistry, the Research School of Earth Science, the Fenner School of Environment and Society, the Mathematical Sciences Institute, the Research School of Physics and Engineering, and the Centre for the Public Awareness of Science. Staff and students within the ANU College of Science conduct research and deliver a research-led education program that encompasses the entire breadth of the sciences, supported by extensive international networks and by world-class facilities. The College has a strong tradition of research excellence that has fostered distinguished Nobel Laureates and Kyoto Prize winners and that trains scientific leaders in disciplines in which the ANU is consistently ranked in the top twenty in the world.

The Research School of Biology has about 60 lab groups with research strengths across a wide range of biological disciplines and our research is underpinned by world-class equipment, infrastructure and support staff, and funded by an extensive range of external grants. The School coordinates teaching of the research-led curriculum in biological and biomedical sciences. Laboratory classes are an essential component of the curriculum from first year to postgraduate coursework.

The Biology Teaching and Learning Centre (BT&LC) provides valuable technical services to support the operation of the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum.

A continuing part time position exist within the Biology Teaching Laboratory for an energetic team player with a background in biology and/or biochemistry. Under general direction of the Team Leader, this Technical Officer role provides operational and technical support to maintain the teaching activities undertaken in the laboratory to a high standard.
