We are seeking an experienced and talented Design Drafter to join our engineering team at our head office in Lonsdale in a full time role. As a Design Drafter within the Water Sector, you will play a vital role in supporting engineering projects by creating accurate and detailed technical drawings and documentation. Your focus will be on preparing plans, layouts, and designs related to water infrastructure, treatment facilities, distribution systems, and other water-related projects, including civil components.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Technical Drawing and Design**: Use Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to prepare 2D and 3D technical drawings and models for water infrastructure projects. Interpret engineering designs, sketches, and specifications to create detailed drawings for construction and implementation. Develop layout plans, elevations, sections, and other visual representations of water systems and structures
- **Documentation and Records**: Maintain accurate and organised project documentation, including drawings, calculations, and revisions. Update and manage drawing libraries, ensuring the latest versions are readily accessible to the engineering team
- **Collaboration and Coordination**: Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into precise technical drawings. Communicate with project managers and design teams to ensure timely completion of drafting tasks
- **Quality Assurance**: Review and verify engineering drawings to ensure compliance with design standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Perform quality checks on drawings to identify errors or inconsistencies and make necessary corrections
- **Design Improvements and Innovations**: Suggest design improvements and enhancements to optimise water infrastructure systems, considering efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Stay updated with the latest design and drafting technologies and incorporate best practices into the drafting process
- **Health and Safety Compliance**: Ensure that all design drafts adhere to health and safety standards, minimising potential risks during construction and operation

**Essential Criteria**:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Additional relevant certifications are advantageous
- Experience in designing industrial infrastructure, particularly in the water sector, including mechanical equipment layout, piping design, access platforms and civil components
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and concepts related to water infrastructure and systems
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations governing water sector projects
- Attention to detail and accuracy in creating and reviewing technical drawings
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers and project stakeholders
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple drafting tasks simultaneously

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
