Make&Meld provide creative design, woodwork and maker workshops to kindys, schools and other venues throughout the greater Brisbane area.

**Purpose of the position**:
The role of a Workshop Facilitator is to facilitate Make&Meld Workshops, including Maker Parties and special events. All training will be provided.

Workshops will be at external venues across the greater Brisbane Area.

Workshop Facilitators are responsible for all aspects of the _**delivery **_of workshops offered by Make&Meld as directed by their supervisor. This includes, but is not limited to, cleaning and setting up for a workshop, greeting and registering participants, successfully delivering the workshop within the desired time frame as well as tidying and packing up at the end of the workshop. The workshop facilitator may also be required to report any learnings as requested.

Workshop Facilitators may be required to assist in the planning, and _**preparation **_of the components and materials needed for the delivery of Make&Meld workshops. This may include using hand tools and power tools to prepare materials.

**MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Carry out all Workshop Facilitation requirements including preparation, set-up, greeting customers, running workshops, cleaning, tidying and pack-down activities as required.
- Prepare materials for up-and-coming workshops, parties and other events as required.
- Use Hand tools and machinery/equipment for the preparation and delivery of workshops e.g. hammers, drills, screw drivers, saws, and staple guns, hand drills and other power tools (training to be provided).
- Guide children to use hand-tools including hammers, screwdrivers, saws etc in a safe manner (training provided).
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures at all times (training provided)
- Engage with workshop participants and their families in a respectful and inclusive manner and ensure each participant is given the appropriate level of assistance and guidance for their age and skill level.
- Be responsible for others’ health and safety - provide appropriate instruction and supervision of students when using equipment/materials and ensure appropriate PPE is worn and safety procedures are followed (training provided and PPE supplied by Make&Meld as required).
- Be responsible for your own health and safety. Workshop Facilitators are required to wear clothing and enclosed shoes suitable to teaching in a workshop environment. Workshop facilitators are required to utilise appropriate PPE, including vision and hearing protection as required, and they must ensure all students utilise PPE and safety equipment as required.
- A uniform must be worn when required (uniform will be supplied by Make&Meld).
- Travel using your own vehicle may be required to and from the Yeronga maker-space and Incursion destinations within the greater Brisbane Area.
- Other tasks as directed by supervisors.

**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**

**Licences**:A positive Blue Card is required for this role.

An Unrestricted Drivers Licence is required for this role.

**Qualifications**:There are no mandatory qualifications required for this position however qualifications in the fields of creative art, design, sustainability, education and / or carpentry would be highly regarded.

**Experience**:Previous experience in a similar role is desirable however is not required.

**Skills**:The following skills are required to perform the role of workshop facilitator
- Ability to communicate with children and young people, and their families in a friendly, helpful, respectful and professional manner at all times.
- Engage with children and young people, and their families, in an appropriate manner, following Make&Meld’s code of conduct.
- Ability to communicate with external parties such as education staff, OSHC providers and other clients in a professional manner at all times.
- Ability to work as part of a team with other workshop facilitators and staff to share tasks and to successfully deliver workshops that are engaging and run on time.
- Ability to problem solve and remain flexible to changing demands within a sometimes high pressure environment - ability to think on your feet, problem solve and prioritise to ensure service delivery within an educational workshop setting.
- Well developed time management skills to ensure punctual arrival at meetings, workshops and events and to ensure services run on time and meet clients expectations.

**Requirements**:The successful applicant must at all times
- Demonstrate professional conduct, behavior and communication that is in line with the mission and values of Make&Meld as outlined in _Make&Meld’s Code of Conduct._
- Hold an _Unrestricted Queensland Drivers Licence._
- Comply with relevant state and territory laws for working with children and hold a positive _Queensland Working with Children Blue Card_.
