**The Opportunity**
This position would be suited to a graduate with a career ambitions of hydrographic, or an existing Hydrographic Surveyor Level 2/Cat B equivalent. Applicants from non-survey careers are welcome, who want to transition into surveying.
Veris will support with enrolment for the Cat B Hydrographic course run by IIC and for you to complete the Coxswain commercial boat training course.
The position can be located in Devonport, or Hobart. It will involve regular travel with Tasmania, including multi-day trips; some interstate travel would be required.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Support team by planning and mobilising equipment for hydrographic projects
- Planning and setup of small hydrographic surveys
- Data capture on hydrographic projects using single beam echo sounders, multibeam echo sounders (primarily Norbit multibeams), laser scanner, RTK GNSS, remote survey boats
- Processing hydrographic data and performing checks on the quality of the data
- Drafting of survey plans in PDF and CAD formats
**About You**
- Bachelor's degree or tertiary qualification specifically in Surveying or have the pre-requisites to attend the IIC Category B Hydrographic Course
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Category A or B Hydrographic Surveying Certification (desirable but not required)
- SSSI Level 1 or Level 2 Hydrographic Surveying Accreditation (desirable but not required)
- Coxswain licence - Grade 1 or 2 (desirable but not required)
- Proficient in Caris and / or Hypack (desirable but not required)
- Full Australian driving licence,
- towing trailers (desirable but not required, however must be willing to learn)
- non-smoker - due to the proximity of and the use of combustible fuels onboard small survey vessels
- no police record - to comply with Marine Security clearance
- able to pass a pre-employment medical - to ensure can meet requirements for commercial boat operator
- be an able swimmer and comfortable working on and around the water
