The role of the Kitchen Hand is general in nature and extends to but is not limited to, washing dishes and bakery items assisting front of house as well as bakery in additional duties when required.

About Us

Norma's is an always-on banquette of food and drinks. It's a one-stop destination for takeaway goods when a legion of friends come over for a Sunday late lunch or a revolving deli offering for a mid-week meeting at the bar. The menu is influenced by Greek flavours but expands its repertoire to include Mediterranean-style dishes; think jam-packed sandwiches on freshly baked bread and a lemon tart to finish. Norma’s is best-in-class when it comes to a Deli concept, as the pre-prepped food cabinet sits alongside the live kitchen, bakery and bar. The onsite sourdough bakery will operate alongside a rotisserie, with fine deli meats being cut on order. The Deli operates from morning to night, offering the Manly locals and visitors a reliable option when it comes to any food and drink occasion. Whether you are visiting for the first time or a frequent patron, Norma’s will become synonymous with the overall beachside experience.

About the Opportunity:
The role of the kitchen porter/hand is general in nature and extends to but is not limited to, washing dishes and bakery items assisting front of house as well as bakery in larder duties which include but are not limited to stock ordering, stock management and rotation, organisation, cleaning and stock take of cold and dry storage areas. Duties will also include assisting bakers and chefs in the preparation and processing of raw ingredients used in all areas of the kitchen, this extends to but is not limited to, dairy, meat, poultry, grains and pulses, herbs and spices.

A typical day looks like:

- Responsible for monitoring the back area and corridor to clear and clean plates and sweep floors when needed
- Maintaining a clean kitchen area, particularly around the sink and dishwasher
- Cleaning dishes as they come through so they are not piling up
- Providing support to FOH if and when it is needed
- Ensuring clean floors / benches / tables
- Ensuring bakery is at the highest standard in terms of cleanliness and presentation
- Assisting chefs and bakers in preparation of raw and finished goods
- Larder (stock control, rotation, ordering)
