Whether you are engaging in policy development, program implementation, or direct support services, your efforts will have a tangible impact on job seekers, employees and the economy by giving them a framework to build a future anchored and realised through employment.
It is our ambition to do things differently, to create the ‘department of great jobs’- where our people reflect our purpose.
**The Role**
The Apprenticeship Policy Branch is seeking an experienced principal analyst in the Evaluation and Analysis team. As a principal analyst, you will support the Director in delivering the team’s work program.
The role requires highly developed expertise in strategic assessment, analysis and negotiation, communication and staff development, drawing upon a depth of experience in policy evaluation, applied economics and data analysis.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Conduct research and analysis to support the design, delivery, and evaluation of apprenticeship policies and programs.
- Lead the analysis of integrated datasets to evaluate the impact of policies and programs, including administrative data, surveys, and financial data.
- Design and plan evaluations, working closely with policy areas to undertake evaluation processes, synthesising quantitative and qualitative information to inform evaluation findings and draw conclusions.
- Interpreting a wide range of information, including economic information and data, to give unique insights on policy issues.
- Prepare and present briefs, reports, and publications for a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including portfolio ministers and members of the Senior Executive Service.
- Lead engagement with stakeholders relating to data and information collection, analysis of issues and the development of relevant policy initiatives.
- Support other teams to develop new policy proposals and costings.
- Undertake economic and gender impact analysis of existing and proposed apprenticeship policies.
- Work with a team across multiple physical locations to deliver regular and bespoke reports, including providing direction, allocating responsibilities, giving feedback, setting priorities, coaching and developing team members
- Coordinate work in a collegiate way with the other directors in the branch and mentor and motivate team members to ensure that the branch works together to achieve outcomes and supports a healthy culture
- Engage collaboratively with staff throughout DEWR and with other partnering agencies.

You should take into consideration the position overview (including any detailed position specific requirements) when drafting your response. Where possible include specific relevant examples of your work.
The APS work level standards accommodate the diversity of roles across the APS and are structured to clearly differentiate between the work expected (i.e. responsibilities and duties) at each classification level.
