**About the Role**:
The Department for Education has committed to the delivery of a series of reforms under two related work programs - ‘one in four’ reforms focused on improving outcomes for children/students with functional needs, and ‘student engagement’ reforms focused on greater inclusion of students in their learning and reducing the use of exclusionary responses.
The Autism Inclusion in Secondary Schools Advisor will have expertise in evidence-based inclusive practices for secondary schools supporting autistic students and be skilled to offer practical advice and in-class support. This position will work collaboratively with leaders and teachers to evaluate and proactively plan neuro-affirming ways to support students. Other key foci for this role include building effective student transition processes into the middle years, teacher professional learning and developing personalised learning plans with autistic students that promote their agency.
The role involves working collaboratively with students, families and carers, school leadership, education staff, Autism in Secondary Schools project team, other teams across the Support and Inclusion division, and external stakeholders as required.
**Essential Qualifications**:
- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications and relevant skills and experience supporting autistic students in secondary school setting.**
**Special Conditions**:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN -EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

**Remuneration**:
S121- 2: $126,216 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation.**
