About the role
The Principal Consultant plays a key role and is the primary technical point of contact for select customers for establishing and maintaining successful customer relationships and for driving conversations around technical decisions. Through having an understanding of the technical landscape the Principal Consultant partners with the customers leadership team to develop and realise long-term strategies, with the aim of delivering visionary results.
**The role requires a depth and breadth of experience in the following**:
- Legacy and modern cloud-native architectures with Infrastructure-as-Code
- Configuration management tools, DevOps, CI/CD
- PaaS platforms
- Software-development -lifecycle (SDLC)
**To be successful in and suited to this role you are required to have**:
- 10+ years experience with a good portion of this gained within large Enterprise Organisations to enable you to understand the technical demands and to enable you to navigate difficult landscapes with various levels of hierarchy, stakeholders and operational procedures.
- You will need to be comfortable with ambiguity, be action-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Have the ability to operate under pressure within dynamic, fluid environments and be constantly challenged.
As part of this role you will help to build the technical capability for our Australian region and work with the SECTION6 teams to scope, and win engagements in highly competitive environments, identifying opportunities where SECTION6 can contribute to and advance customer strategy objectives.
**Responsibilities**:
- Be the technical lead on, digital transformation project for our Australian clients.
- Work as a strategic partner to business leaders, helping them navigate uncertainty and risk to make informed decisions.
- Identify and capitalise on opportunities to augment and advance customer strategy.
- Leading technical teams to align with, and meet business objectives.
- Leading SECTION6 and customer delivery teams, you will track the progress of projects and continually seek opportunities for improvement, delighting customers by doing the right thing and exceeding expectations wherever possible.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and challenges.
- Implement a variety of mission critical greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Develop business proposals, functional and technical specifications and other documents where required.
- Design and implement CI/CD workflows, container platforms and automate all aspects of the SDLC, further enhancing and optimising release and repository management.
- Assist organisations with migrating workloads to public cloud IaaS and PaaS platforms, including OpenShift, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform, and contribute to open source projects.
- Engage with key stakeholders to understand and consider all the dimensions for creating the right solution, including the desired business outcome, business requirements, operational context, and the software-development -lifecycle (SDLC) suitable for each client.
