**Description**:
The Opportunity
This is an exciting chance to join a dedicated team as a Tenancy Officer, where you will oversee a diverse portfolio of rental properties and make a tangible difference in tenants' lives. Working within a supportive environment, you will ensure the successful management of tenancies, compliance with legal requirements, and the delivery of high-quality customer service. By maintaining a balance between sustaining tenancies and protecting the interests of the organisation, you will contribute to the stability and growth of our housing services.
What you’ll do
- Manage tenancies end-to-end, including all necessary documentation and assessments.
- Conduct detailed property inspections and address issues to maintain assets and reduce tenant liability.
- Investigate and address nuisance or anti-social behaviour, taking appropriate remedial action.
- Monitor tenant accounts, handle arrears, and take proactive steps to recover debt.
- Respond promptly to tenant enquiries, ensuring decisions align with legal and organisational policies.
- Oversee the end of tenancy process, including bond disbursements and debt recovery.
- Manage tenancy terminations, both voluntary and non-voluntary, in line with legal requirements.
- Represent the organisation in court if necessary.

**What you'll bring**:
You will bring extensive knowledge and experience in property management, backed by a strong understanding of relevant legislation and property maintenance practices. Your customer service expertise, including advanced negotiation and communication skills, will enable you to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders, finding solutions to complex issues. You thrive in a team environment, demonstrating strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate records. Your knowledge of social disadvantage, mental health, and housing barriers will be crucial in supporting tenants and ensuring positive outcomes.
- In-depth knowledge of property management practices, including the Residential Tenancies Act and property inspection processes.
- Proven strengths in customer service, with the ability to handle challenging conversations and negotiate effectively.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage workload and competing priorities efficiently.
- Experience working collaboratively in a team, contributing to a positive and supportive environment.
- Proficiency in operating database systems, ensuring accurate records and generating reports.
- Understanding of safe work practices relevant to property management.
- A current Western Australian ‘C’ class driver’s license and relevant qualifications or experience in property management.
- Experience in the community housing sector or human services, with a good understanding of social disadvantage and housing barriers.
