As Quality Engineering Manager (QEM) you lead a group of Testing specialists across all disciplines (Test Automation, Service Virtualisation and Performance Engineering). You will enable and transform quality practises across multiple squads, providing performance, reliability & resilience testing strategies. This will require innovation by setting and owning the framework with new and existing tools, processes, practices and industrialising them into a regular delivery cycle.

**Your new team**

You will join us in the Instalments and Protect What Matters sub-domains of Personal Everyday Banking. The team provides our Colleagues and Customers with simple digital experiences across various products covering a range of customer journeys.

**In this role you will be accountable for**:

- Oversight and leadership of sub-domain testing services, carrying out People Leader fundamentals and inspiring a learning-based culture
- Define and influence the ongoing QE solution process for all delivery, moving tasks to the left to find and prevent defects as early as possible in the lifecycle
- Identify and provide required testing resource needs (capacity/capability/training) to squads
- Monitor and review testing work, participate in testing effort estimates and actuals to deliver Features / Stories
- Implement, monitor and report on quality metrics including trend analysis of discrepancies and defects
- automated unit testing (error handling, algorithm verification, exception case coverage, valid flow coverage)
- automated component-based testing including stubs/mocks and driver technologies and frameworks
- Drive an automation led approach for system, SIT and Unit testing for the sub-domain
- Contribute to platform integration, performance and resource consumption testing at service level and e2e as necessary
- Working knowledge/experienced in automation frameworks built using nodeJS, Python, Selenium etc
- Ensuring code quality meets industry best practices from the following perspectives:

- NAB structural and naming convention standards
- Optimal usage of language constructs
- Defining and ensuring quality improvements and needs are included in feature / story acceptance criteria
- Driving the incorporation of quality improvements in new and deployed code (via refactoring strategies)
- Monitoring code quality in real-time via the development and display of code quality dashboards incorporated into the existing CI/CD processes
- Managing transition from outsourced manual and/or assisted testing to automated/real-time/hands-off testing
- Collaboration with business and technical stakeholders as the representative of your team’s capability and value
- Proactively contribute and maintain a desired risk culture across the team that includes managing senior business and technology stakeholders

**What you will bring**:

- Expert in Quality Engineering practices with 7+ years’ experience
- Experience leading integrated teams to ensure systems are designed for testability
- Expert in software development, solution architecture and/or quality engineering experience in multiple environments
- Experience in strategic development and implementation of Quality Engineering solutions (Automation Frameworks, Performance Validation)
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, with a focus on quality and detail
- Agile development practices & DevOps capabilities with experience across mini-apps, APIs and microservices
- Technical acumen associated with complex and deeply integrated systems hosted on cloud infrastructures and on prem services
- Proven thought leader & trusted advisor
