Purpose of Role:
Reporting to the Director of our West Region, this is a key role in leading the team in safety, quality, and overall delivery of excellence in service to Weir’s customers in Western Australia.

You will be responsible for the effective leadership of Weir Minerals Australia’s Perth & Kalgoorlie Service Centre’s.

The General Manager will also play a leading role in the establishment of the new Port Hedland Service Centre and the Perth Screen Manufacturing facility, both of which will then form part of the operations in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop service business strategies to deliver sustainable growth in the West service business in line with company objectives
- Lead and support the establishment of Weir’s expanded presence in Western Australia, including the establishment of the Port Hedland Service Centre and the Perth Screen Manufacturing facility.
- Lead a diverse team of service personnel and implement a sustainable organisational structure in the region
- Demonstrate positive leadership behaviours to advocate for a positive safety culture
- Implementation of key competencies and business processes to streamline the service business for growth
- Networking and development of relationships with key customer contacts, personally and indirectly through the service team
- Generation of detailed service proposals and site service agreements / contracts
- Lead the Service Centre operational team in a way that complies with and promotes the company’s safety policies and procedures
- Development of best-in-class service processes in line with the company’s safety Quality procedures and practices
- Contribute towards maintenance of ISO certification for Safety, Quality and Environment
- Development and continuous improvement strategies for facilities, equipment and tooling, systems and processes, skills and competencies
- Implementation of the Weir Production System and Lean best practice throughout all aspects of the service business
- Performance to plan against all key business metrics, including safety, financial, environmental and quality, engagement, diversity and employee retention / attrition
- Report weekly on past and planned activities and provide details of significant market issues (customer and competitor)

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

- A qualification in engineering, commerce or management is desirable
- 5 years of experience in a leadership role in a comparable service industry
- A proven ability to think strategically and develop sustainable business plans aligned to deliver growth
- Effective leadership and organisational skills
- Effective communication, negotiation skills & commercial acumen
- A demonstrated commitment to safety and best in class safety practices
- Detailed understanding of SAP processes in aftermarket functions (incl. service order processing, parts order management, goods movements, inventory management etc) is desirable
