Vce Tutor

The VCE English Tutor provides small-group academic support (2-8 students) to senior secondary students (Years 11-12) undertaking the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Mainstream English curriculum. The role involves helping students develop analytical, creative, and persuasive writing skills; improve critical reading and interpretation; and refine their understanding of key texts and exam requirements.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned tutoring sessions focusing on VCE English.
- Assist students with text analysis, comparative essays, oral presentations, and exam preparation alongside a provided curriculum.
- Provide targeted feedback on student writing to improve expression, structure, and argumentation.
- Support students in developing strong comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.
- Adapt lesson materials that suit individual learning styles and goals in the moment.
- Monitor student progress on Tutorbird and communicate effectively with students (and parents, if applicable) regarding performance and improvement areas.
- Stay up to date with VCAA study design changes, assessment criteria, and relevant literary texts.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- (Optional) Completion or current enrolment in a Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Arts, or a related field.
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience, preferably at the VCE level.
- High academic achievement in VCE English or equivalent qualification.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3 - 6 per week
