**Position Information**:
Cessnock West Public School has an enrolment of 384 students across 16 classes, including an Opportunity Class, with 26% of the school population identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. The success of the learning community reflects the school’s vision to provide a safe and inclusive environment of continual improvement that embraces student strength, resilience, wellbeing, and a love of learning through a collaborative, contemporary lens. The school priorities include numeracy, literacy, student wellbeing and community engagement. Staff members are highly dedicated professionals, including early career and experienced teachers. We have a strong focus on providing evidence informed quality literacy and numeracy programs. Cessnock West successfully provides for the strong participation and contribution of the Aboriginal community in learning and encourages students to recognize and respect cultural diversity, fostering strong connections with the AECG and broader Aboriginal community. The P&C is engaged in strong and genuine partnerships with the school community.
**Selection Criteria**:
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary. Recognised as an exemplary teacher with demonstrated ability to lead and build teacher capacity in the implementation of the new syllabus to promote high-quality literacy and numeracy programs, drive school improvement and enhance a culture of high expectations.
2. A visible leader, who works as part of a collaborative team to lead and successfully implement initiatives that address the school’s strategic directions and build positive, authentic relationships with the whole school and wider community.
3. Proven ability to lead and drive whole school wellbeing practices to build and foster a positive, inclusive whole school culture.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning- 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies**Conditions**:
