Would you like to be involved in helping older men live at home in the community for longer?
Volunteers have many skills and experiences that can help to boost the social and mental well-being of our clients, as well as helping them to practice activities of daily living. These social, mental and physical benefits are all part of being involved in the Men’s Group and using the Men’s Shed. With support from volunteers and our team at the Community Respite Cottage our clients are able to continue to live happy and healthy lives at home for longer.
This role may include:
- Running a men's coffee club alongside a weekly activity, for example the activity could be a once off woodwork piece or ongoing gardening project
- Organising the shed area and cleaning up at the end of each shift
- Chatting and providing our male clients with companionship to support their social and mental well-being
- Supporting staff and clients on day trips within the local community
We want to hear from you Let us know if you have any skills or experiences that you think would benefit our clients.
**Time commitment**
This role ideally suits a volunteer with 15 hours to give per week. However, we work with all volunteers to set up the most suitable days and times for you. Any amount of time you can give, whether it’s a few days a week or a few hours a month, is valuable for our community and much appreciated.

**Requirements**:
Regardless of the role or location, all volunteers require;
- A current National Police Certificate for the Purpose of Aged Care, or be willing to obtain one
- Evidence you have received the current Influenza Vaccination
- Evidence you have received three vaccinations against COVID-19
