**About the Department**
Austin Health Pathology is a dynamic and growing department within Austin Health, dedicated to delivering high-quality diagnostic services across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. We proudly support Austin Health, the Mercy Hospital for Women, and a wide network of GPs and specialists.
We are currently expanding into the Hume and Loddon Mallee regions, strengthening our presence and accessibility in regional communities through a network of laboratories, collection centers and point-of-care services.
**About the role**
Austin Pathology is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Laboratory Haematologist to join our dynamic and expanding Molecular Haematology team. This is a Specialist role with a primary focus on molecular diagnostics and clinical interface, contributing to the excellence in laboratory services and translational research at our Heidelberg Laboratory.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Haematologist with molecular expertise to join a forward-thinking department, contribute to cutting-edge diagnostic services, and engage in teaching, research, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform reporting, validation, and sign-off of molecular haematology tests, including both NGS and non-NGS-based testing.
- Actively participate in the development and validation of new molecular assays
- Contribute to the design and implementation of protocols and clinical guidelines to support optimal interpretation and utilisation of molecular test results.
- Engage in the development of bioinformatics tools and variant interpretation software.
- Participate in research projects and laboratory-based innovation initiatives.
**About you**
To be successful you’ll bring with you:
- Registered Medical Practitioner in Australia under AHPRA.
- Hold a Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, or equivalent, and preferably scope, competence and experience in of practice in Molecular Haematology Pathology (NPAAC Certification in Molecular Haematology).
- Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Molecular Haematopathology.
- Demonstrated commitment to high quality patient care.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching.
