Enhanced Care Association Inc. (ECA) is a not-for-profit organization that provides centre based short-term accommodation and community access supports for young people with multiple and complex disabilities. We provide person centred care within a family centred framework. ECA is a small, user lead organisation with only 11 families accessing our centre.
**THE ROLE**
ECA is seeking a dedicated support worker, experienced in complex disability support needs and high intensity care.
This is a casual position paid under the Award and with an hourly rate commencing at $43.93.
Shifts are a minimum of 5.5 hours, with an average of 20-36 hours available each week.
- **The successful applicant will need to be available to undertake both day programs and overnight respite shifts. **_
- Day program shifts involve working one-to-one with one of our young people, but in an inclusive, team environment. ECA strongly supports the promoting social inclusion and empowering our young people to pursue their personal interests. As such, day program shifts involve organizing and supporting our young people with activities in the community, and coordinating with other co-workers activities for the day that many of our young people can enjoy together.
- The overnight respite shifts provide support for a maximum of three young people with one support worker onsite. The successful applicant would be provided with the induction and given time to familiarize with our young people before being rostered to an overnight shift. All overnight shifts have oncall support should it be necessary.
- As ECA provides services in a home-like environment, support workers at ECA undertake a range of ‘home-like’ activities within their duties including cooking some meals, cleaning of house, and general house maintenance.
The successful applicant would be joining a team of 10 staff, many of whom have worked with the organization for over 5 years. Being a small organization, we are seeking a support worker ready to be part of the ECA ‘family’ and contributes as a team player.
**NECESSARY SKILLS**
- Certificate 3 in Disability plus a minimum of 12 months experience providing support and personal care to individuals with multiple and complex health needs,
**OR** minimum of three years’ experience in complex support work in the disability sector.
- Experience in use of hoists, shower aides, vehicle wheelchair lifts and vehicle wheelchair restraints.
- Experience driving “people mover” / 12 seater van.
- Experience working within an environment with strict procedures for medication, workplace safety, and client reporting.
- Understanding of person-centred care.
- Experience working independently and taking responsibility for your daily actions, but within a supportive team environment.
- Experience in assisting with personal care.
- Availability to work across all days, nights, and weekends.
- **Qualifications Needed**:
- Current First Aid and CPR.
- NDIS worker orientation module
- Current Blue Card and Worker screening card.
- A current, open drivers’ licence and access to a reliable vehicle are essential.
**HOW TO APPLY**
Applicants should provide a cover letter outlining how they meet the necessary skills and provide a current resume that includes their certificates and training.
**Job Type**: Casual
