As a Property Underwriter you will be working with the growing Brooklyn Property team on Mid-Market ISR policies across multiple Industry segments sourcing business from an Australia-wide distribution network. You will use your existing knowledge in understanding and assessing risk, building and maintaining your professional network and customer focus to enhance Brookyln’s underwriting portfolio across existing and new Property products.

- Take part in marketing initiatives with wider Brooklyn Team
- Awareness to financial results and performance metrics and communicated issues as needed
- Use top quality and best practice underwriting according to Company’s standards and guidelines, ensuring that all risks written by the team are within the normal Brooklyn Underwriting underwriting criteria.
- Prompt handover to claims team of all claims advised, supporting and providing input on settlement of claims, as required.

Distribution
- Building on existing Brooklyn broker network and develop own network of contacts and ensure all relevant client relationships (cedants, brokers, clients) are maintained.
- Regular formal and informal meetings with minutes distributed accordingly as applicable.

Regulatory
- Follow relevant procedures and guidelines and ensure compliance with Group and Regional Underwriting Guidelines, with Lloyd’s, FSA and appropriate local requirements as well as with other external legal and regulatory requirements
- Follow Brooklyn Underwriting policies and procedures as detailed in the latest available Employee Handbook and Group policies.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

- Minimum 3 years Property experience, either in a support or underwriting capacity. Exposure to a broad range of risk types is preferred.
- Familiarty with the Industry Mark IV Wording
- Adherence to the technical requirements of the role
- Track record of identifying and analysing problems, identifying & evaluating options, deploying sound decision making skills.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, exercising appropriate discretion in dealing with people from all levels of the Company
- Ability to build effective working relationships (internally/externally), establishing credibility amongst a wide client group
- Excellent attention to detail in documentation and throughout the underwriting process
- Ablility to organise yourself (and others if applicable) including effective scheduling, prioritisation and time management skills, completing tasks to meet tight deadlines.
- Comfortable taking ownership for own work whilst working effectively within a team.
- Willing to travel as required by the business.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; specifically Excel, Outlook, Word & PowerPoint.
