Malaga, Australia BRIC Consulting Engineers Full time

BRIC is looking for a skilled technician who can perform soil collection from various sites across WA and return it to the lab for further testing. A company vehicle will be provided with fuel and all other tools to complete the job. This is a 6 month contract and may become a permanent full-time position depending on the performance of the individual.

A **soil technician** is responsible for testing and analyzing soil samples to determine their composition, properties, and quality. They play a key role in construction and engineering industries by providing valuable data that informs decisions related to land use, or construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- **Soil Sampling and Collection**: Collect soil samples from various locations to analyze soil properties.
- **Soil Testing**: Conduct various tests to assess soil characteristics, texture, moisture content, and contamination.
- **Data Analysis**: Interpret results from soil tests to evaluate the suitability of the soil for different uses Sand or clay sites
- **Report Writing**: Prepare detailed reports summarizing the findings from soil analyses, providing recommendations for improvements or adjustments.
- **Quality Control**: Ensure accurate and consistent testing methods, maintaining proper lab protocols and equipment.
- **Fieldwork**: Often perform work in the field, collecting samples from different depths and locations, and preparing them for lab testing.
- **Equipment Maintenance**: Maintain laboratory equipment and tools used for soil analysis to ensure they are in proper working condition.

Skills & Qualifications:

- **Education**: A degree or diploma in environmental science, geology, agriculture, or a related field is often required.
- **Technical Skills**: Knowledge of soil testing methods and equipment, as well as an understanding of soil science.
- **Attention to Detail**: Ability to accurately record and analyze data.
- **Physical Stamina**: Ability to perform fieldwork in various weather conditions, including heavy lifting and working outdoors.

**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $29.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 8 per week
