**Position Overview**:

- Ally_group is seeking a legal practitioner with at least 2 years post qualification experience in administrative law matters.

This is an exciting three months secondment opportunity to work within a Department with an excellent workplace culture and provide legal advice and support on administrative law, statutory interpretation, and litigation matters.

**About the Role**:
Our client is seeking a Legal Secondee to provide in-house legal advice to the Agency.
- advice writing on statutory interpretation,
- advising administrative decision-makers,
- assisting in the preparation of statements of reasons, and
- the handling of AAT matters (although there is no requirement for the practitioner to undertake advocacy work at the AAT).

The section also coordinates the Department’s handling of litigation—subpoena response, instructing external providers etc. Some experience in litigation would be beneficial.

Experience working in a Commonwealth agency would similarly be beneficial.
- We require an at least 2 years PAE experienced admin lawyer with statutory interpretation and litigation knowledge.
- A current practising certificate

**Other requirements**:
Our preference is for applicants to be based in Canberra, Sydney, or Melbourne.

A baseline clearance is required for this role.

The practitioner would work under the professional supervision of a Legal Director or the General Counsel, and would not be expected to settle advices themselves. However, we are seeking practitioners with a depth of experience such that they can begin making an immediate contribution to the work of the team.
