Job Summary One of our clients is currently in search of a Database Administrator who is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing an organization's databases. Their role ensures that databases are functional, accessible, and optimised for performance. About the Role: Database Administrator will be required to perform and/or have responsibility for duties including, but not limited to: Be capable of assessing the effort involved with project/BAU tasks and make realistic estimations on their feasibility. supporting, and managing Microsoft SQL or Oracle or MongoDB and PostgreSQL Database environments. Responsibility for the establishment of effective monitoring and alerting across the Microsoft SQL and Oracle database platforms. Performance Monitoring and Optimisation: Regularly monitoring database performance and optimising queries to ensure efficient data retrieval and storage. Database Security: Implementing and managing security measures to protect sensitive defence data from unauthorised access and breaches, including configuring firewalls, encryption, and access controls. Perform on going "business as usual" DBA operations and administration tasks, including monitoring, health checks, database backups, performance management and tuning. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database platforms, processes, and procedures. Collaborate closely with other DBAs on the team and the broader infrastructure (compute, storage, network, datacentre) teams. Skills and Knowledge required: Experience on administration, maintenance, performance analysis, and capacity planning for MongoDB, PostgreSQL and Oracle on on-prem and AWS/ Azure. Strong experience as a production DBA supporting any of these database environments SQL/Oracle/MongoDB or PostgreSQL. Expertise in all major versions of SQL Server and associated technology stacks and performance tuning SQL Server databases. Good experience on Oracle DB - PL SQL/ SQL server RP2.4 version or above. Advanced skills in both on premise and cloud (AWS and Azure) DB management Demonstrated expertise in database administration with Microsoft SQL and/or Oracle RDBMS. Desired Skills: 5+ years' experience in a similar role. ITIL v4 Incident, Problem, and Change Management. Experience in the design, implementation, management, and testing of High Availability environments that include SQL Clusters, Always-On and AG’s. Certification in SQL Server role based and/or Oracle Database Administration desirable.
