Ruah Community Services is piloting an Enhanced Services Team working across all Ruah services (Housing and Homelessness, Family Service, Mental Health and Wellness and Ruah Legal) to respond to Ruah’s clients co-occurring need. The team is composed of several specialised member including two counsellors, a Financial Counsellor, a Disability Navigator and Vocational Specialists.

The Counselling service is provided to Ruah clients (adult, children and young people) who are seeking support and advice in relation to a personal challenge. In this process, the counsellor supports people in processing issues that are currently impacting them and working to determine strategies to manage and move through the concerns as well as to identify coping strategies.

**About the role**:
Working in collaboration with Ruah’s Support Coordinators and Support Workers across all Ruah services, this role will provide counselling to Ruah Clients in Ruah sites and outreach.

These would include but are not limited to intersecting grief and loss, trauma, crisis resolution, coping mechanisms and associated issues relating to violence, substance abuse, suicidal behaviors, family and health issues including mental health. The role will improve the short, medium and long-term safety and wellbeing of Ruah clients and promote healing.

This role will ultimately enable mainstream services, provide effective and quality services responding to the needs of Ruah’s client.

**About You**:

- Tertiary qualified Counsellor, Psychologist or Family Therapist (Social Worker)
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the areas of trauma, family violence, alcohol and other drugs, mental health and homelessness.
- Demonstrated experience in therapeutic group work and/or educative programs.
- Willingness to work in a different location everyday (including Mandurah) and with a variety of clients.
- Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to the vision, mission, core values and the guiding principles of the organization.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to complete comprehensive case notes and records.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a recovery-oriented model, utilising a person-centred approach.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated understanding of issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- Relevant registration with a nationally recognised professional body.
