**The Opportunity**
We currently have two vacancies reporting to the Principal Transport Economist.
The **Senior Transport Economist (ASO7)** is responsible for the identification, analysis, research and evaluation of high-level strategic transport issues with an economic focus, undertaking and critically reviewing a range of complex economic assessments, including cost benefit analyses and financial assessments.
The **Transport Economist (ASO6)** undertakes and reviews a range of complex economic assessments, including cost benefit analyses which support evidence-based decision making and inform business case development.
Both positions play a key role in development and maintenance of economic and financial data, analysis and modelling capacity within the Unit, and provides advice and services to others in the Department on complex economic and financial analysis issues assisting various clients in the development of business cases.
**About You**
Can you demonstrate a high standard of written and verbal communication, with experience producing strategic advice, persuasive reports, and briefings for senior audiences. Your proven ability to present compelling arguments and negotiate effectively, offering practical insights that support policy development and organisational improvement will be well regarded.

**Qualifications/Experience**
**ASO7** - To be eligible for appointment at this classification level, a degree in Economics or other relevant discipline is required.
Intermediate / strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
**ASO6** - To be eligible for appointment at this classification level, tertiary qualifications in Economics, Finance or other relevant discipline is required.
**Special Conditions**
A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
**Remuneration**
ASO6 - $98,478 to $104,165 pa + superannuation
ASO7 - $108,109 to $116,864 pa + superannuation
