**The **Student Engagement and Equity Department** at Holmesglen is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative educational environment where every student feels valued. The **Disability Liaison Officer** plays a critical role in promoting inclusive education by working in partnership with students and academic staff to identify individual learning support needs. The position is responsible for assessing and coordinating reasonable adjustments and support strategies with students living with disability or chronic health conditions, ensuring equitable access to learning and participation. Additionally, the role contributes to the development and review of internal policies and procedures to align institutional practices with relevant legislation, standards, and government requirements.

**As a Disability Liaison Officer, you will**:

- Identify the access requirements of students living with disability and determine appropriate strategies to meet these requirements by liaising with students, external health professionals and support services, including family and Holmesglen staff as required, to achieve equitable outcomes and solutions.
- Review and evaluate disability support services to ensure appropriateness and professionalism and develop practical solutions for individualised support aligned with the inherent requirements of the course and the tertiary/vocational environment and any supporting advice received.
- Prepare qualitative and quantitative monthly reports highlighting trends and providing recommendations for remedial action to be adopted by senior management.
- Regularly engage with teaching departments to facilitate professional development and support for staff on disability issues and encourage open dialogue between staff and students.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including professional associations, education providers and the wider community.

**To be successful, you’ll have**:

- Degree qualifications in disability, community welfare or similar field and relevant work experience.
- Or lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience and specialist expertise in, or broad knowledge of, the disability support sector.
- Proven experience delivering disability support services, ideally within an educational or training environment, with a sound understanding of vocational learning contexts and student support needs.
- Substantial experience in case management, intake, assessment, and support planning, with excellent organisational, administrative, and problem-solving skills in managing complex, confidential matters.
- ** WWCC and Police Check**:Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
