As Assistant Project Officer, you will play a crucial role in undertaking a range of project research, analysis, reporting, implementation and administrative activities to support the development and delivery of projects, in line with established project plans and objectives. You will also play an important role in providing executive level administrative support and leadership that enables effective operations and governance of the Building Compliance Directorate.

**About the Building Commission NSW**

The new Building Commission NSW has been established after the NSW Government recognised the substantial progress made by Fair Trading and the Office of the Building Commissioner in delivering once-in-a-generation reforms of the building and construction industry. **As Assistant Project Officer, you will be responsible for**:

- Providing project and operational support, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones and deliverables, to ensure time, cost and quality indicators are in line with approved project plans
- Updating and collating documentation and records regarding relevant issues, policies and practices to ensure the delivery of projects complies with agreed project management methodology
- Undertaking basic research and analysis in assigned project areas and contribute to the preparation of project briefs to support informed decision making and planning
- Assisting the project team to complete tasks and implement project plans to ensure agreed outcomes are achieved
- Communicating with relevant stakeholders to provide updates regarding project status and implementation issues
- Providing a range of secretariat and administrative services, including coordinating committee meetings and preparing papers, to support project management delivery
- Representing the Directorate by obtaining and conveying information to internal and external stakeholders including liaison with senior levels of government and agencies and the private sector
- Managing and tracking incoming correspondence and enquiries determining appropriate action as well as managing the Director’s diary, travel and associated documents, screens requests for appointments, negotiating appointment times and resolves diary clashes to ensure that matters of an urgent or sensitive nature are given priority and makes optimal use of the Director’s time
- Drafting and coordinating Directorate communication and messaging, correspondence, agendas, minutes and briefing notes and coordinates logístical requirements for key Directorate events and forums in consultation with managers and other administrative staff

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
- Proven experience to plan and prioritise high volume of work with conflicting and critical deadlines
- Knowledge of the Acts and Regulations relevant to assist with drafting the Briefing Notes for the Business Units
- Th ability to break down complex legislative texts into their component parts for better understanding
- The ability to respond and act in relation to tight timeframes, often coordinating responses from other staff
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity when dealing with sensitive and confidential information
- The ability to attend to a wide variety of day to day related administrative tasks, resolving them on behalf of the Director
- Proficiency in managing schedules, organizing meetings, and handling documentation
- Be self-driven and motivated with a keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all administrative tasks and project documentation
