Truck Offsider/assistant

Busy local transport and logistics company looking for a fit, energetic Offsider to assist other staff members in a variety of different duties. The successful applicant will require a driver's licence and may be offered a Cert 3 traineeship, with options to get a truck licence and forklift licence down the track.

WHAT YOU NEED:

- You will need to be fit and energetic, with the strength to move heavy items like Beer Kegs etc. Correct lifting and delivery techniques will be taught to the successful person
- Ability to communicate well with other staff
- Well organised, able to prioritise and multitask and able to work alone and within a team environment
- Excellent work ethic with a positive, can do attitude and willingness to listen to directions and learn from senior staff members
- Basic technology skills. Ability to use hand held scanners and GPS
- Excellent customer service skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Be capable of lifting/moving heavy freight have a reasonable fitness level to assist with sorting freight, loading and unloading vehicles and using trolleys to delivery freight or goods
- Be able to pass a National Police Check

Duties will include but not be limited to
- assisting with freight sorting and loading of vehicles with other staff
- assisting with unloading freight or goods, stacking and pushing trolleys and delivering freight/goods in a variety of different ways as per many different contracts
- complete all necessary paperwork by obtaining signatures on delivery and completing PODs, both manual and via scanners as required. Training will be provided
- cleaning and general other tasks to assist other staff members and business owners as requested
- actively engage in all WHS requirements and objectives and be able to demonstrate and uphold a commitment to safe work practices. This includes performing and recording daily safety checks and complying with all site requirements regarding PPE, policies and procedures for BOTH our depot worksite and any other depot, workplace or private address

In addition to these duties, this role will work in a team and assist other staff as needed. We are looking for a keen, motivated individual who is not afraid of hard work. This position involved lots of manual handling and lifting and the successful applicant must be able to commit to the physical requirements of the position. Common sense and high attention to detail will also be highly regarded. Applicants may be required to submit to random Drug & Alcohol testing.
