Principal Natural Resource Officer

(PERMANENT, TEMPORARY OR CASUAL).
Key Duties and Accountabilities
- Ensure high quality and consistent planning services and advice are delivered to internal and external Departmental customers for planning and development proposals under the Planning Act 2016 State Development and Public Works Organisation Act 1971 and Environmental Protection Act 1994.
- Provide leadership of the planning team and other regional and state-wide project teams to ensure ongoing effective service delivery, continual business improvement, state-wide consistency, workforce capability, performance management, and implementation of government policies and initiatives within Queensland.
- Coordinate, represent and lead the department's input into Environmental Impact Assessments, local and regional planning instruments and development assessment to ensure impacts on natural resources are considered, managed mitigated and/or offset.
- Contribute to and review most appropriate land use reports under the Land Act 1994 to inform allocation of State land.
- Contribute to policy review and development for current and emerging environmental and natural resource management issues, with an emphasis on planning and development assessment.
- Advise, liaise, consult and negotiate with industry, project proponents, community stakeholders, internal and external project teams and other government agencies regarding the management of natural resources.
- Maintain and share knowledge of government agendas and initiatives and an awareness of local, regional and state-wide political, business and economic trends.
- Possess high level project management skills and ensure the delivery of project milestones in an environment of competing demands, short timeframes and limited resources.
- Prepare submissions, briefs and correspondence relating to complex natural resource management issues.
