**Position Information**:
Yass High School is an inclusive, comprehensive and growing school close to Canberra with an enrolment that has varied around 535 in 2024 with 11% Aboriginal students. The school benefits from strong community relationships and is committed to a personalised success pathway for every student.
Yass High School is proud of the inclusivity of our programs and facilities. Our students benefit from a broad curriculum that provides post-school opportunities in academic, technological, vocational and creative fields. The school has new building infrastructure including a STEM building (2021) and a new school hall (2023) promoting 21st century learning technologies.
All students at Yass High School learn and are encouraged by well-qualified, experienced teachers who work collaboratively to ensure dynamic course delivery and enriched learning. We have a Trade Centre for vocational courses such as Metals, Timber and Hospitality which is a popular career direction for many students. Our Agriculture farm enables students to learn the skills relating to animal management and horticulture, both very appropriate to our rural setting. Our growing Support Unit includes three Learning Hub classes and a SLC (Supported Learning Centre). Yass High School also has a stage 5 pathways programs to support students to transition to the workforce.
Yass High School’s culture of high expectations and wellbeing underpins the individual guidance we offer each to student to help them select courses appropriate to their personal aptitudes, interests and aspirations. Our rich curriculum is ever-evolving and extensive to ensure it is relevant to today’s world, and continues to encourage students to think deeply and logically, and to excel at both independent and team work.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated ability to identify and cultivate targeted professional learning to increase staff's capacity to utilise evidence informed pedagogies relating to literacy and/or numeracy.
- Proven commitment to promote and strengthen a culture of high expectations through strategically developing, refining and communicating whole school systems to improve student behavioral, wellbeing and academic outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the senior executive team to drive continuous improvement and strategically lead the school towards excellence across all domains of the School Excellence Framework.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
