Our fully owned and operated Indigenous client is experiencing rapid growth and is now seeking a talented and experienced Newspaper Editor to be apart of their team to drive the publication forward; on both print and digital platforms.

**THE ROLE AND**
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Oversee the editorial process, ensuring the delivery of accurate, compelling and timely news articles across all sections of the newspaper
- Edit and proofread articles to ensure impeccable grammar, style and adherence to our publication's editorial guidelines
- Collaborate with reporters, writers, and freelance contributors to shape and refine their stories, ensuring they resonate with our readership
- Stay abreast of current events, industry trends, and evolving journalism practices to maintain the publication's high standards
- Work closely with the design team to create visually engaging layouts that complement the content and enhance the overall reader experience
- Manage and motivate a team of journalists, providing constructive feedback, mentoring, and fostering their professional growth
- Oversee the newspaper's digital presence, ensuring the website and social media channels are updated regularly with captivating content

**ABOUT YOU**
- Proven experience as a Newspaper Editor or similar role, demonstrating exceptional editorial judgment and a deep understanding of journalistic ethics
- Impeccable writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling
- Familiarity with both traditional print and digital media platforms, and the ability to adapt content for different mediums
- Proficiency in digital publishing tools, content management systems, and social media platforms
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with the flexibility to work under tight deadlines
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of journalists
- A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field is preferred but not essential if you have extensive experience in the industry
