**JOB TITLE**: TRAFFIC CONTROL - TMI - Signage Ute Driver
REPORTS TO TRAFFIC CONTROL OPERATIONS MANAGER
**Overview**
As a Traffic Controller TMI you will be responsible for setting up, managing and removing temporary traffic control schemes, overseeing all other Traffic Controllers on-site.
You will be looked at as the Lead Traffic Controller on-sites and must be able to lead & work closely with all co-workers to ensure the safe management of work zones or events for all Global Road Maintenance Systems Clients.
A TMI must be able to operate in a team environment and assist all team members in the performance of their duties.
The job requires regular physical manual effort. You will be required to stand for 8 to 10 hours per day handling a Stop-Slow bat, or managing other similar traffic control signs and devices, regardless of weather conditions.
The hours you will work may vary from day to day, and season to season. Work is done to suit Global Road Maintenance Systems Client schedules or needs and may occur on any day or at any time of the day or night and may also require emergency response calls.
Global Road Maintenance Systems requires all staff to present for duty in a fit and proper state a minimum of Thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of each shift.
**Qualifications**:
- Hold Current Qld Open Drivers Licence
- Hold Current Qld Traffic Control Licence Level 1
- Hold Current Qld TMI Certification Level 2
- Working in Proximity to Traffic - Awareness Part 1
- Working in Proximity to Traffic - Awareness Part 2 Works Protection Methods
- Must have Civil Construction White/Blue Card
**Position Purpose**:
A Traffic Controller TMI purpose on-site include the following but not limited to:
- Complete Pre-start & all associated paperwork prior to job start
- Maintain High Standard of Traffic Control duties of all on-site
- Ensure Safety of all on-site
- On-site Communication with Client Representative
- Knowledge & understanding of the MUTCD,
- Implementation of TGS’s & Permit Conditions for work sites
- Control all trafficable movement in & around work site
- Knowledge & understanding of TCAS & Codes & Practices associated with Traffic Control
- Knowledge, understanding and adhering to Company Policies & Procedures
**Experience**:
- Min of 2 years as a TMI setting up sites
- Council Sites & Adhoc Client site work essential
- Highway set ups preferred but not essential
**Required Qualities**:
- Professional approach to dealing with Client Representative on-site
- Ability to work under pressure
- Organisational & Time management skills
- Attention to TGS’s & Permit Details
- Ability to Communicate well with other Traffic Controllers & Client Representative with a calm temperament
- Willingness to assist & support other Traffic Controllers
- Leadership Qualities
- Ability to work on a team to keep traffic moving
**Detailed Work Activities**
- **Attend all Pre-Start Toolboxes prior to commencing work**
- Perform all tasks associated with traffic management for works or events.
- Must perform duties in accordance with: Traffic Controllers’ Handbook(TCAS)
- Must perform duties in accordance with: MUTCD
- Must perform duties to the AS1742.3 standard
- Participate in professional development, including knowledge of Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice and Standards
- Daily Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Completing vehicle pre-start checks
- Loading and unloading Global Road Maintenance Systems Traffic Control Utes
- Accurately complete Daily Activity Sheet Sheets, ensuring that all variations, modifications or adjustments to a traffic management scheme are authorised by qualified RPEQ or TMD.
- Accurately complete dockets, including precise times for all Traffic Controllers on-site.
- Accurately measure distance using Global Road Maintenance Systems Ute odometer, measuring wheel, or other means of measurement you may have.
- Accurately layout a traffic guidance scheme in accordance with TGS/s supplied
- Accurately complete SWMS & Site Hazard Assessments and implement control measures to suit the site.
- Accurately and regularly complete site checks and monitor traffic behaviour and or flow to ensure safety is maintained always.
- Understand & adhere to instructions from Client Representative, Company Managers, or MR & Safety inspectors and auditor.
- Driving and towing, inclusive of extended reversing with an arrow board or VMB (Visual Message Board)
- Care and maintenance of Global Road Maintenance Systems signage and traffic management devices.
- Cleaning Global Road Maintenance Systems vehicles and signage on a regular basis
- Perform all other duties to control traffic, pedestrians and cyclists to protect maintenance workers, work crews and members of the public.
- Be able to repeatedly lift 15-20Kg
**Conditions of work**:
- Have your TC licence, TMI card & Civil Construction card on your persons at all time whilst on-site
- Work is generally alongside active Roads, Highways
