**Responsible for**: Operations, running of the Bar
**Quality and service**
The Bar Staff is responsible for:
- overseeing the day, running of the bar.
- the maintenance of customer service and product quality.
- identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement in customer service and product quality.
- the monitoring of service and product standards of competitive businesses.
- overseeing the professional handling of customer complaints and suggestions.
**Financial performance**
The Bar Staff is responsible for:
- the growth in revenue of the bar _**exclusive of price increases**_.
- the control of the bar wage percentage to the targets negotiated with the venue manager.
- the control of beverage costs to the targets negotiated with the Venue Manger.
- monitoring staff turnover in the bar and taking action if staff turnover becomes
an issue.
**Sales**
The Bar Staff are responsible for:
- ensuring service standards are high enough to guarantee repeat business.
- ensuring the customer average sale is maximised by ensuring that all bar staff are using suggestive selling and up selling techniques at every appropriate opportunity.
- ensuring service is fast so as to maximise sales.
- ensuring that all bar staff have a thorough knowledge of all wines/beverages, food and facilities being offered.
**Productivity and morale**
The Bar is responsible:
- shift the bar is prepared, ready and staffed appropriately.
- performing a regular circuit of all bar operating areas during peak and service times in order to either reallocate staff when an area is struggling or provide
direct assistance.
- ensuring that the bar is left in a satisfactory state at the end of shift and that each shift has done all that is possible to prepare for the following shift (i.e restocking, checking staffing, etc.).
- ensuring the maintenance of both high productivity and positive staff morale.
- seeking from the Venue Manger, what exactly is expected of them, how to do it (training) and how they will be judged (performance appraisals).
- ensuring that all bar staffs’ work performance is reviewed monthly with emphasis on positive achievements and the setting of work performance goals with
each member.
- ensuring that staff feel free to communicate their feelings, complaints and ideas and that those matters are actioned.
- ensuring that bar staff turnover is kept to a minimum as directed by VM.
- responding to and treating colleagues with professional respect and courtesy.
**Presentation and maintenance**
The Bar staff are responsible for:
- ensuring the development, implementation and maintenance of proper bar cleaning and maintenance schedules.
- Ensuring that all kegs in cool room are stock rotated and full before each service.
Occupational health & safety
The Bar is responsible for:
- ensuring the venues meet minimum statutory responsibilities for both employees and customers.
**Purchasing and stock control**
**Civic Compliance**
The Bar is responsible for:
- keeping up to date with licensing legislation, particularly relating to noise, under age patrons and anti-social behaviour.
- accurate displaying of license details in the bar.
- ensuring a safe environment for patrons and staff in the bar.
- ensuring that all staff have completed responsible service of alcohol training.
- ensuring consistent cooperation with local police and other civic compliance authorities.
**Other**
The Bar Manager is responsible for:
- any other duties as may reasonably be requested or required;
- other duties that may be required as the position evolves.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $23.23 - $42.23 per hour
Expected hours: 10 - 18 per week
