This Federal Government department develop and deliver programs that have supported the health and wellbeing of the Australian public for many years.
To assist with the on-going technology enhancements, there is a requirement for a Data Analyst to join the team to provide support the cross functional team to develop a supply and demand modelling tool.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Utilise complex analytic techniques and experimental methods independently to develop technological solutions to achieve business outcomes
- Use computational methods to discover data patterns and to develop classification, prediction and optimisation models
- Develop, enhance and maintain a range of mathematical models to monitor demand and analyse behaviour
- Undertake complex data analysis, interpretation and investigation of large data sets
- Present data and complex numerical information in a clear and concise manner and clearly communicate statistical concepts to senior and non-technical audiences
- Work closely with project managers and technical leads to meet deliverables and assist in developing the scenario planning tool to industry and agency standards
**Essential Criteria**:
- Qualifications in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other relevant disciplines
- 4 - 5+ years’ work experience as a Data Analyst or Data Scientist
- Expertise in algorithms and statistical methods
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with analytics programming languages and tools such as R (experience in Shiny is highly desirable)
- An advanced level of SQL skills and experience
- 2+ years practical experience in scientific programming and (micro) simulation, statistical modelling, and behavioural analytics
- Strong data wrangling, visualisation, and analysis skills
- Professional commitment and skills of maintaining code quality
- Demonstrated capability of communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
**Desirable Criteria**:
- Experience with cloud deployment technologies and processes using AWS Sagemaker, Docker and Git is a nice to have
- Experience with SAS programming would be desired
