**Electrical and Services Coordinator**
**OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**
The Electrical and Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the effective management of Services
such as Electricity, Solar Panels, Water, Lifts, Air Conditioning Systems, Fire Protection Systems,
Refrigeration and Security Systems of Barker College campuses are maintained in excellent condition.
The Electrical and Services Coordinator must perform electrical work in accordance with AS/NZS 3000:2018
Wiring Rules. Previous experience in the fire protection industry is preferred.
Reporting to the Clerk of Works, the Electrical and Services Coordinator, in conjunction with the Facilities
and Project Administrator is responsible for coordinating Contractors and ensuring appropriate resources for
the Facilities and Property Team.
**PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
**CONTRACTOR MANAGEMENT**
- Responsible for the management of the outsourced contracts for electrical, plumbing and other suppliers
for the School. This will involve monitoring the quality of work being performed against contract
requirements and/or industry standards and WHS expectations.
- Alert the Clerk of Works to any significant management issues including recommendations and changes
to processes
- Manage the performance of contract staff and sub-contractors and with the Facilities and Project
Administrator, ensure verification of their current references and certificates, licences, insurances, safe
working methods and WHS requirements.
- To adhere to the School policies and processes in relation to the ordering of goods and services and
obtaining of quotes.
- Liaise with Chief Operating Officer, Clerk of Works and Team Leaders during consideration and final
approval of new projects, particularly with reference to future maintenance matters.
- Ensure adequacy of electricity mains and natural gas and water services for new buildings or extensions.
- Provide Project Management services in regard to minor works projects managed/undertaken in house by
- Barker within the field of expertise and experience as required- Monitor the implementation of those items of work included in the Capex Meeting works schedule within
field of expertise
**Electrical - School Services
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical equipment, appliances and fixtures
- Diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems and repair as required
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for
- adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
**Human Resources**

- Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations, paid for
by Barker College
- Follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to
building and safety codes
- Liaise with the Facilities and Project Administrator to ensure accurate record and file management,
preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures
- Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
**Non-Electrical/General - School Services**
- Provide assistance during emergencies as required.
- Work with school needs in areas such as fire equipment, lift servicing, security equipment, facilities
- supervisor and other sub-contractors as required, and advise as required.- Assess the needs of the School in areas such as fire equipment, lift servicing, security equipment as
- appropriate to the role- Work collaboratively with the Clerk of Works, the Team Leaders in the Property and Facilities
- Department and with staff across the School- Support the Clerk of Works in budgeting requirements
**WORK HEALTH AND SAFETY**:
- Report any hazard or incident through the School’s Safety Management System- Follow Work Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, Safe Work Procedures, Standard Operating
- Procedures and Manual Handling Guidelines appropriate to your duties- Ensure that all staff and contractors have the appropriate SWMS, WHS training, Licences, Permits and
- References to carry out the work required- In conjunction with the Facilities and Project Administrator, ensure that all staff and contractors reporting
to you comply with the School’s WHS policies
