The Queensland SVS Branch stands as a cornerstone of property assessment excellence, delivering accurate and equitable statutory land valuations. SVS plays a key role in the property market, providing transparent valuations which may be used as an input for state and local government revenue, land management purposes, sustainable planning and development for Queensland. SVS operates with integrity and accuracy, delivering specific valuation needs for a diverse range of clients and assets.
As a Principal Valuer you will act as a delegate for the Valuer-General in accordance with the Land Valuation Act 2010., while leading a team of valuers who are responsible for delivery of statutory land valuations for properties in Queensland in accordance with legislation for client and asset valuations.
**About the role**: - Oversee complex valuations for statutory, land administration, client, and asset purposes, ensuring high-level responsibility and accountability in valuation sign-offs for government. Manage and mentor a team of valuers, fostering innovation, efficiency, and strong business relationships through coaching and support. Promote and utilise advanced information and communication technology to manage work processes effectively. Represent the business unit at external forums and liaise with industry, government agencies, and academics on complex valuation issues. Manage major valuation projects and timeframes, monitor work plans, address emerging trends, resolve grievances, and provide professional development for staff. Resolve statutory grievances relating to valuation activities; prepare Land Court briefs and appear as an expert witness in the Land Court. State Valuation Service is a state-wide operation. While this role may primarily service a region, you may be required to assist across the State. Cultivate a collaborative team environment that fosters clear communication, teamwork, and a strong sense of purpose among team members.
**About you**: We'll look for the best suited applicant by assessing eligibility and ability to undertake the requirements of the role (including, where relevant, the way you carried out previous roles), including: - Experience leading a team. Demonstrated management skills i.e. building a positive culture and high performing team. Strong stakeholder engagement skills. Problem solving skills.
**To be successful in this position**: - Be a Registered Valuer in Queensland or be capable of immediately becoming registered. It is the responsibility of any successful applicant to maintain registration with the Valuers Registration Board in Queensland
- A Degree qualification in land valuation services (or agreed equivalent as determined by the Chief Executive). While not mandatory, it would be preferable for the applicant to have a membership with the Australian Property Institute or/and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. Current C class driver's licence is mandatory. Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods.
