
Metallurgical Technican

Alliance Connect is a non ferrous foundry located in South East Melbourne. We are looking for an experienced metallurgist who has at least 2 years experience in this type of foundry.
**Key Tasks**
- Assess metal properties to ensure metal is within specification defined by customer
- Work to continuously improve the quality of the materials used in the foundry
- Check furnace temperature to ensure metal is at required temperature for specific job
- Take metal samples from all furnaces in the foundry and conduct spark test on spectrometer
- Develop and test different combinations of metals (alloy development) to meet requirements for strength and durability of parts
- Develop techniques to repair metal damage or defects in metal parts to reduce wastage
- Advise casting leads and production manager on the correct selection of metals for specific use
- Report any anomalies to casting leads
- Checks the quality of metals or other materials used in new products
- Conducts quality tests and other tests to detect defects
- Uses various testing methods (eg radiographic)
Interprets results from testing to continuously improve quality of metal and parts produce
**Experience required**
- Experience testing metals in a foundry environment (2 years minimum)
- Experience in the above mentioned tasks is essential
- Experience with metallurgical test work and laboratory processes
- Experience recording test data
- A minimum of 3 years experience working and testing different metal types (specifically aluminium)
- Experience analysing data and information to enhancing operating performance (speficially relating to metal and other related materials
- Experience working with metal alloys such as aluminium, bronze, cast iron
- Experience working with molten metal and furnaces
- Good verbal and communication skills
Pay: $73,000.00 - $74,000.00 per year
