**About the Role**

The **Monash Children’s Cancer Biobank (MCCB)** is a nationally significant resource that supports cutting-edge translational research to improve outcomes for children and young people with cancer.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated **Biobank Scientific Lead** to provide leadership, scientific oversight and strategic direction for the MCCB.

In this role, you will oversee all aspects of biobank management, including ethics and governance compliance, quality assurance, funding sustainability, and external collaborations. You will lead a small team of Research Assistants, guiding their work in sample collection, preservation and distribution, and ensuring adherence to ICH-GCP and best practice standards.

As the Biobank Scientific Lead, you will play a key role in increasing the visibility, utilisation and impact of the MCCB, building strong partnerships with national and international researchers, and contributing to the development of new treatment pathways for paediatric cancer.

**Key Responsibilities**

In this senior role, you will:

- Provide scientific leadership and oversight of the Monash Children’s Cancer Biobank (MCCB).
- Lead and mentor Research Assistants and other biobank staff, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Ensure MCCB operations comply with ICH-GCP, NHMRC guidelines and Monash Health standards.
- Maintain ethics and governance approvals, ensuring timely annual reporting.
- Prepare and submit reports for funding bodies, and identify and secure new funding opportunities.
- Oversee accurate documentation of MCCB expenses and financial accountability.
- Lead quality assurance and improvement activities, including audits, SOP development and review.
- Drive strategies to increase national and international utilisation of MCCB resources.
- Facilitate research contracts and agreements (e.g. material transfer agreements) with external partners.

**About You**

You are a collaborative and visionary leader with the ability to guide both people and projects. You bring deep technical expertise in biobanking and clinical research, along with excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills. Above all, you are motivated by a passion to improve outcomes for children and young people with cancer.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- A degree in Medical Science or another relevant specialty.
- _Postgraduate qualification in Science or another relevant specialty (desirable)._
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification with strong knowledge of ICH-GCP, NHMRC guidelines, and Victorian ethics/governance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and conducting clinical research.
- Proven expertise in biobanking processes and management of biological resources.
- Strong leadership, mentoring and supervisory skills.
- Excellent organisational and documentation abilities.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build partnerships across multidisciplinary teams and external networks.

**Key Working Relationships**

**Internal**: Lead Clinical Trial Coordinator & Nurse Unit Manager, Research Assistants, Clinical Research Associates/Clinical Research Nurses, Principal Investigators, and staff across theatre, pathology and ward services.
**External**: National Biobanking Networks, Sponsors, Laboratories, and other hospitals.
