Melbourne City Centre, Australia Court Services Victoria Full time

**About Us**

Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the 'Courts Group'.

Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdictions own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.

**Coroners Court of Victoria**

The current Coroners Court of Victoria (CCOV) was established on 1 November 2009 with the introduction of the Coroners Act 2008 (Vic). CCOV is led by the State Coroner of Victoria. Victorian families are at the centre of the work of CCOV; conducting thorough investigations, providing respectful services and how court information and documents are shared. CCOV has 3 roles:

- **Independently investigating deaths and fires**. Certain deaths and fires are reported to the Coroners for independent investigation. Their investigations seek to establish the facts - when, where, how and why the death or fire happened.
- **Reducing preventable deaths.** Wherever possible, the Coroner will suggest ways to prevent similar deaths or fires by making well informed and practical recommendations, based on the evidence before them.
- **Promoting public health and safety and the administration of justice**. CCOV regularly reports on data and trends regarding preventable deaths in Victoria to help inform public health responses.

**About the Role**

The Manager, Mental Health and Disability is responsible for leading and supporting the Mental Health and Disability Investigation team within CPU to deliver exceptional outcomes to Coroners and service users. You will srupervise and develop the Mental Health and Disability Investigation Team, ensuring sustainable workloads, exceptional service, and career growth opportunities.

The role also provides specialist advisory and investigative case management support on mental health and disability related deaths and reviews legal, forensic scientific and medical evidence to identify contributing factors to the death. You will provide expert advisory and investigative case maagement, reviewing complex clinical, forensic, and legal evidence to inform coronial decisions. You will uild key partnerships with government agencies and health professionals, driving imporovements in mental health and disability policies and outcomes.

While providing a rewarding and meaningful work experience, the coronial jurisdiction is a sensitive, demanding and confronting environment. As such, our employees are exposed to a range of challenging experiences, images and materials. The environment can challenge employees in ways where the impact is not necessarily evident immediately but can accumulate over time. CCOV takes very seriously its obligation to take all reasonable measures to create a psychologically safe workplace. Whilst we cannot eliminate the exposures to employees, we can and do put services, programs and strategies in place to help mitigate the psychological impact of the exposures and as an employee of CCOV there is a requirement for staff to proactively manage their psychological health.

**About You**

We are looking for a dynamic leader with a commitment to public health and safety with:

- A thorough understanding and clinical experience in mental health services and systems in Victoria.
- Advanced investigative skills and experience.
- Understanding of the disability sector will be an advantage
- A relevant clinical mental health related qualification and current APHRA or AASW registration is essential.

**How to apply**
- Resume.
- A cover letter (not exceeding two pages) demonstrating attributes and experience relevant to the role (see the Key Selection criteria in the Position Description).
- A short response to the following wellbeing question (in addition to the two pages above):
CCOV is an environment that can expose staff to images, case history, testimony and behaviour that can cause stress and/or distress at times.

**_ Question: What strategies would you employ to help deal with these potential stressors?_**

For further information on the role, please see the attached Position Description.
