Mechanical Draftsman

Our client, CHRIS DEBONO PTY LTD t/as CHRIS BODY BUILDERS is seeking for a Mechanical Draftsman.

Chris’s Body Builders is built on their people, they all work together in a team orientated environment to build state of the art tipping truck bodies and tipping trailers. Whether it’s on a construction site or in a paddock, take a look and you will see their trailers on the highway every day. We cover all areas of tipping transport in vehicles fabricated from steel, Hardox and aluminium.

Their manufacturing facility and role is located in Melbourne’s western suburbs. They require a Mechanical Draftsman to join their skilled workforce to work alongside their existing engineering team.

The Role:

- Draft designs for heavy transport vehicles for the tipping industry in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Prepare engineering drawings of heavy vehicles with details
- Prepare production documentation for the creation of new parts
- Assist in the development of new vehicles to fill market gaps and promote innovation
- Investigate production and product improvements and projects
- Carry out product trouble shooting and components investigations
- Prepare reports on issues and create production documentation
- Participate on quality improvement initiatives and projects
- Liaise with suppliers on critical components and custom goods

About you:

- To succeed in this role, you will have a proven track in a similar role
- Additionally, you will have:

- Diploma in a relevant field or at least three years of relevant experience
- Extensive experience in a similar role building heavy tipping equipment
- Sound knowledge of engineering standards
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, and Design software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization and in all forms
- Friendly predisposition and a strong team player
- Exceptional work ethics and ability to work to organizational values
