**The Role**
As the Quality Assurance Officer within Navy Safety and Environment (NavySafE), you will be responsible for contributing to the ongoing assurance activities around the implementation, improvement, and effectiveness of the Navy Safety Management System as well as contributing to Navy wide safety risk management initiatives.
The duties of an APS 6 Quality Assurance Officer include:
- Providing advice and support on the development and review of safety policy and approach to safety risk management.
- Contributing to the coordination, governance and implementation of the Navy Safety Assurance Program to ensure all statutory requirements are met by Navy, risks are identified and the naval enterprise maintains seaworthiness.
- Develop, implement and review quality assurance processes and governance procedures, practices and frameworks.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with team member, management and stakeholders to produce comprehensive and defensible initiatives to support Navy’s safety assurance and risk management.
**About our Team**
The Navy Safety and Environment (NavySafE) team is part of the Navy Engineering Division and works across a range of specialisations including work health and safety, occupational hygiene, and environment.
NavySafE is accountable for developing and sustaining Navy's Safety and Environment Management Systems, and assuring Navy senior leadership that these systems are effectively implemented and maintained.
As a Quality Assurance Officer you will be accountable to work under broad direction to perform and achieve complex quality assurance activities within an integrated workforce. You will need to have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
You will need to be a results focused, self-disciplined individual with the persistence to follow through so as to ensure safety assurance matters have been adequately addressed across the naval enterprise.
The role requires a considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex safety issues. To be effective in this role you will need to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve Navy and Defence outcomes.
